VA Veteran's Choice Progam
Veterans can access VA health care benefit through Health Net comprehensive network of community-based, non-VA medical professionals who meet VA quality standards at NO extra cost. Veterans are able to recieve treatment without any copay or co-insurance.
The Veterans Access, Choice, Accountability Act (VACAA) of 2014 is a law that expands the number of options Veterans have for receiving care to ensure Veterans have timely access to high-quality care. Veterans Choice Program (VCP) provides primary care, inpatient and outpatient specialty care, and mental health care for eligible Veterans when the local VA medical center (VAMC) cannot provide the services due to:
1. Lack of available specialists.
2. Long wait times.
3. Extraordinary distance from the Veteran’s home.
Dr. Thoa Ho, DOM, LAc. is a proud member of Health Net’s PCCC.
To use your Veteran’s Choice card for a PCCC provider, you must first receive a referral from your VA doctor. The VA doctor reviews your condition and your needs and makes an assessment of your eligibility for the Veteran’s Choice program based on the 3 criteria listed above. The most common referral is for chronic pain though I am more recently receiving referrals for Anxiety and PTSD.
Through this program, the referrals to me are for Acupuncture which is clinically proven effective for pain and anxiety to name a few. For more about Acupuncture, please see that section of our web site.
How to start:
Once the Veteran is assessed and determined eligible for the Veterans Choice Program, the VA issues the authorization to Health Net who then contacts me to schedule the appointment and provide me with an authorization for treatment. During the course of treatment, if additional treatments are needed, we work directly with Health Net for the authorization. We take care of it for you.
Vetrans does NOT have to pay any copay or coinsurance at our clinic. Let your primary physian know that you are intrested in using alternative treatments for your conditions. You can also call our office at 321-800-4455 or Health Net at 1-866-606-8198 to answer any of your questions.
